The department was working on at least 26 new schemes to strengthen the basic educational facilities in the province, Additional Director (P&D) of Education Department, Shakeel Ahmed Shaikh, told The News.
These projects and schemes would expedite the provision of basic requirements in the education sector, he said.
The department has decided to start a training programme for the elementary and secondary teachers.
The scheme aimed at increasing the teaching standards so that there would be proper utilisation of teachers’ abilities, he further said.
Under this scheme, as many as 50 teachers each from elementary and secondary schools would be selected for the training programme.
The department would encourage female teachers for the project, he added.
The education department has also decided to establish a public school in Kambar, Shahdadkot.
A piece of land has been identified in this regard and further paperwork would be completed after Eid, Shaikh said.
Meanwhile, repair work and restoration of a historical educational building, the Government Noor Muhammad High School, Hyderabad, has also been included in the scheme.
According to the additional director, this was the oldest educational building of the city which was established in 1888 while the existing building was constructed in 1934. There were 1,734 students enrolled in the school, he further said.
There was a scheme to construct 14 colleges, most of them in rural Sindh. The estimated cost of the project was Rs7,261.064 million, Shaikh said.
