The federal government has announced 3 Days of public holidays in Rawalpindi and Islamabad from October 14 to 16 due to the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting, which will be held in Islamabad.
All government and private educational institutions, as well as government offices in the twin cities, will remain closed during this period. The decision, approved by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, aims to facilitate the SCO Council of Heads of Government meeting.
Additionally, a notification has been issued for the deployment of the army from October 5 to 17 to ensure security for the SCO meeting in the federal capital. The army is being deployed under Article 245, and security arrangements will be in place during the entire period.
Leaders from around the world, including the Russian and Chinese prime ministers, are expected to attend the two-day summit.
