KARACHI - The Fourth International Symposium-cum-Training Course on Molecular Medicine and Drug Research will be held from January 7 to 10 at the International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), Karachi University.An official of the institution informed here on Friday that over 350 scientists including 30 researchers from 15 countries will be attending the event being organised by Dr Panjwani Center for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research (PCMD), University of Karachi.ICCBS Director Prof Dr Iqbal Chaudhry on Friday presided over a meeting of the symposium’s organising committee at HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry, University of Karachi. He said that the aim of the event was to develop understanding and appreciation of this emerging field (Molecular Medicine and Drug Research) in Pakistan, to bring together the leading experts in the field of molecular medicine.It was informed that the inaugural ceremony of the molecular event will be held on January 7 at 9am at Prof Salimuzzaman Siddiqui Auditorium-ICCBS. The Vice Chancellor of Karachi University, Prof Dr Qaiser will perform the inauguration of the symposium while Coordinator General COMSTECH and former Chairman Higher Education Commission, Prof Dr Attaur Rehman will be the guest of honour at the occasion. Besides, Dean Faculty of Science Prof. Dr. Shahana Urooj Kazmi, Prof Dr Chaudhry, Managing Trustee Muhammad Hussain Punjwani Trust Nadra Punjwani and Dr Asmat Saleem will also express their views in the inaugural ceremony, he added. He said that the scientific programme of the symposium include plenary and invited lectures by eminent scientists and poster presentations by young scholars from 15 countries of the world. The training sessions will focus on developing concepts of molecular medicines and its applications in understanding diseases at the molecular levels. These sessions will be conducted by international experts.
