The Higher Education Department, Government of the Punjab has decided to add 7 to 10 subjects at Matric and Inter level. The new subjects will be added by introducing a new subject group called Professional, in addition to Science, Arts, Pre-medical, Pre-engineering, and other groups offered at Matric and Intermediate levels.
Seven to ten new subjects will be added to the new group. Students will be able to opt for the new “Professional” group from the next academic year. According to the details, the Higher Education Department has decided to introduce a new group in matriculation, intermediate in order to meet the requirement of the global employment market. Students will be given practical knowledge of the latest technologies that are in practice around the globe. This will open new doors of employment for the students after matric and inter level.
Subjects being introduced include food technology, agricultural technology, mobile application, etc... New teachers will also be recruited for new subjects. The purpose of introducing these subjects is to enable students to enter into the employment market early. The new group will be introduced both for male and female students from next year.
