A new 10-point grading system is being introduced at the matric and inter-level across the country. The grading system will replace the old marks and grading system. According to the new system, passing marks will be increased from 33 percent to 40 percent, while the failure i.e. F will be replaced by a U grade.
A plus plus grade will be awarded to the students scoring 96 to 100 marks, an A plus for students scoring 91 to 95 marks and an A grade for 86 to 90 marks. The approval of this ten-system grading system will be given in the meeting of heads of all educational boards across the country (IBCC) which will be held today in Lahore.
Chairman HEC Dr. Mukhtar has also been specially invited to attend the meeting. According to this system, 81 to 85 percent of marks will be graded B plus and 76 to 81 marks will be graded B. Similarly, students of Matriculation and Inter will be given University-style Grading Point Average (GPA) instead of marks. It will also be approved in the meeting that matric and inter exams will be held in April and May and the results will be announced in August every year.
