The government of Pakistan has established the Allied Health Professional Council to accredit the institutions offering allied health sciences programs. All institutions offering allied health science programs are required to be affiliated and recognized by the council. Students are also informed to seek admission to the only accredited programs and institutions. HEC has already advised students to check the accreditation status of allied health courses before seeking admission through its latest student parents alert.
The Allied Health Professionals Council was established by the Government of Pakistan through the Allied Health Professionals Act, of 2022. The main functions of the Council are to define the scope and standards of study, to register AHPs and institutions, and to facilitate their continuing professional development.
The Allied Health Professionals Council wishes to draw attention to the following:
(a) Section 12(1), (4) and Section 18, 19 of the AHPC Act 2022 stipulates that “Any institution, which provides courses for basic or higher qualifications for various Allied Health Professionals in Pakistan, shall apply to the Council for registration/recognition and shall furnish the information as required by the Council”
(b) Section 16 (1), (2), Section 20 of the AHPC Act 2022 stipulates: “The Council shall for the purpose of registration of AHP maintain the register of Allied Health Professionals”.
The AHPC is proceeding with the registration of institutions of Pakistan offering diplomas, certificates, and degree programs in allied health disciplines. (A list of allied health disciplines is attached). The deadline for registration of institutes is 30 January 2024.
