KARACHI - Dawood College of Engineering and Technology (DCET) on Monday announced the entry test result which was conducted on November 18.A total of 3597 students were enrolled in the admission test, out of them 3234 students appeared in the test, while 1691 declared to be passed and 1543 failed in the test. Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Ali Shaikh, who is also DCET in-charge Principal, stated on Monday that total 562 seats were reserved for new admission in the DCET and out of these seats, 173 were allocated for urban Sindh.He informed that 1050 students, applied in this category, passed the test and 583 students passed the test against 173 seats reserved for rural Sindh while 21 students passed the test against 100 seats, which are being filled on self-financing scheme. The VC said that interviews for final selection of the candidates would be conducted on December 10 and the classes of new batch will be started from January 7.The admission process completed within the stipulated time while last year it was delayed because it was the first year of the college working under the administrative control of the Sindh government after the passage of 18th amendment, he added.He said that last batch of 2008 passed out its annual examination a bit late, while the batch of 2009 was appearing in final examination in the current month without any loss of the time “We are trying to make the DCET a quality and disciplined institution by giving priority to the academic activities,” he concluded.Sharmila to attend Sindhi Cultural Day on Dec 4: Special Assistant (Minister status) to Chief Minister Sindh for Media Sharmila Faruqui will be the chief guest in the event of “SINDHI CULTURAL DAY” at Muhammad Ali Jinnah University.The event will be held at MAJU, opposite Lal Kothi, Shahrah-e-Faisal, PECHS Block-6,Karachi December 4, at 2 pm, said a statement issued here on Monday.
