Being a student of second year, Punjab Board, you may be conscious about how to pass Physics, especially if you could not prepare it well throughout the year. Passing second-year physics is a little technical; however, systematic planning can enable you to pass the paper with some effort. This article discusses such planning.
Paper Pattern
The paper of second year physics, Punjab Boards, will be 85 marks and to pass the paper, you have to score 34 marks. The objective part of the paper will contain 17 MCQs selected from all chapters and you have to attempt all of these. The first section, of the subjective part, will consist of three questions that will, further, contain short questions. You have to attempt all three questions; however, choice will be available within a question. The second section, of the subjective part, will consist of five long questions and you have to attempt three. Instead of being conscious about the formation of these questions, just follow the coming paragraphs to prepare the paper.
How to Prepare for Physics MCQs
To prepare MCQs, enlist and learn by heart the items like: find a quantity (acceleration, tolerance, angle, critical temperature etc.) under given conditions; what determines a quantity or direction; how does any quantity behave like; write SI units of a quantity; and write the name of a process, phenomenon, effect, particle and ray. To attempt the short questions well, learn how to answer the questions like: define, what does, write down, what amount, what/ which factor, on what basis, how to identify, how many, what is the difference, which one is better and why, show that, find peak value, explain, describe and show that. The long questions will be asked with the help of words: state any law and determine its mathematical equation, write some principles of a phenomenon and derive its expression, calculate/ find any value like resistance under given conditions, discuss the result of a given experiment, why and how.
How to Pass Physics with Minimum Effort
The paper pattern and pairing scheme suggest that, to pass the paper, you have to:
- Prepare chapters 12, 13, 20 and 21 completely (MCQs, short questions and long questions). It will enable you to attempt the questions of 40 marks.
- Prepare chapters 14, 15 (MCQs and short questions only). It will enable you to attempt the questions having a worth of 18 marks.
- Prepare short questions of the first half of chapter 19 and all MCQs of the same chapter. It will enable you to attempt the questions of 4 marks.
- Prepare the MCQs of the rest of the chapters.
The planning, discussed above, will enable you to score the pass marks. To be more assured regarding pass marks, prepare long questions of units 14 and 14 as well.
If you did not appear in any model paper conducted by either your school or any academy; then, it is advisable to appear in at least two of these. It is also recommended to participate in the discussion that is often made at the end of these papers. Time management, in a paper, is obviously crucial. Plan your time allocation for each question well before the paper. And, prayers definitely work, so don’t forget to pray at the end. Wish you the best of luck.
