As an elder, do you come across children with peculiar habits and surprising ideas? Well, it is possible that geniuses are around you, but you hardly notice!
Most people think that only the children who are academically excellent are the only gifted ones. You should not be making this mistake as a parent. The category of geniuses goes beyond academic intellect. These children may or may not be the toppers in their class.
If you know the geniuses amongst your children you can use effective parenting techniques to help them reach their true potential and make wonders!
3 Behaviours Seen in Gifted Children
Every child is unique. Your children will also have different strengths and weaknesses. You must make sure that you help all of them identify their own skills and know their own personality. If there is a gifted child among your children, you will observe the following personality traits,
1. They Have a Deeply Analytical Mind
Gifted children think deeply. But how would you know if your child is a deep thinker? Here are a few behaviors reflected by children who have a deeply analytical mind,
1. These children are highly focused in all their tasks.
2. These students spend their time understanding the world around them. You may find them asking a lot of questions that you won’t expect from a kid their age.
3. They can adapt their communication style swiftly according to the place they are in, and the person they are talking to.
4. They do every task assigned to them in a very intellectual manner.
5. They constantly bring about new ideas and perspectives in different kind of situations.
2. They Can Understand Complex Problems Easily
Gifted children can understand complicated problems with considerable ease when compared with other children. These children have the following abilities,
1. They understand things swiftly and easily.
2. They can relate a complicated scenario with practical/ real life insights.
3. They can identify examples to explain complicated concepts.
4. They have the ability to reason with numbers. Mostly such children are quick at understanding mathematical problems.
3. They are Highly Committed to Everything They Do
These children are highly focused and have a good attention span. Unlike many children who can easily get bored or forget about different tasks, these children do what they are assigned dedicatedly. They complete their tasks or do the work in the exact time they are required to do it in. This is because,
1. They have a high internal motivation.
2. Their intellectual curiosity propels them to complete everything they do.
How to Parent a Gifted Child?
Many don’t understand the dynamics of parenting. As a parent you may not be able to apply the same formula on all of your children. This is because every child is different, and you should be tailoring your parenting style to effectively nurture each of them. As a parent you must observe the traits shared above in your children. Additionally, you need the following strategies to effectively groom your children into responsible citizens as they grow,
1. Knowledge of their strengths and weaknesses
2. Knowledge of any skill they are good at
3. Knowledge of activities they do passionately
One reason why many people do not understand themselves, and do not know their passions is that they were never observed and guided from an early age. Your children may have different skill sets and weaknesses. Some may be good at maths and enjoy it. Others may like sports. Gifted children may demonstrate a scientific aptitude from an early age. This means that they would be interested or curious about the following type of things,
1. They may like to know more about the universe and solar system.
2. They may have interest in how human body works.
3. They may like to open up and fix machines, and be fascinated by how technology is made and functions.
4. They may have habits of reading which bring them immense joy.
The scope of a gifted child’s curiosity goes far beyond these examples. So be sure to understand what exactly excites your child. Keep on creating opportunities where they can pursue their passions, and develop their skills more efficiently.

Respect Your Children!
The mental and character development of children is greatly affected by the respect and acknowledgement they receive from their parents. If you find out that your child is gifted, please know that it is completely normal for them to act in ways that are different from other children their age. They may also have ideas that you would expect from an elder.
Make sure that you listen to them kindly, and guide them in all spheres of life with respect. If you end up unnecessarily snubbing your child, or scolding them in front of other people, it is possible that they lose the spark in their personality. This would either make them highly underconfident, or rebellious. As children grow in such conditions, they sometimes ignore their own gifted potential and lead a life of anger and agony.
Good Luck!
