According to the report published by the Pakistan Institute for Development Economics on the issue of Unemployment in 2022, 30 percent of the youth of the age group ranging from 21 years to 29 years is unemployed. Such high rates of unemployment clubbed with rising inflation is creating wave of despair and negativity among the youth. The good new is that the Elementary and Education Department of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa issued a new notification about the selection criteria for the induction of teachers. This new notification will suspend the selection criteria and marks distribution scheme implemented in 2014. We will discuss the changes in the selection criteria and what is new in the scheme for the induction of teachers.

Appointment of SST (BS 16):
According to the new notification of the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Senior Science Teachers SST (BS 16) in the Elementary Education department will be appointed on merit for the respective district.
Are SST (BS 16) appointed on merit or contract?
No, SST (BS 16) are not appointed on regular basis. They are appointed on adhoc basis for a period of one years which can be extended according to the rules.
What is the procedure to get regular job in KPK as teacher?
You can be appointed as a teacher for BS 15 on regular basis on merit. The appointment on these seats is non-transferrable for a period of minimum three years. You can also be appointed on other jobs, but the Pay scale should be less than BS 15.
Who will conduct the test for teachers in KPK?
The test for the induction of teachers in the Elementary and Secondary Education department of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be conducted by a third party i.e. ETEA.
What is the marks distribution schemes of test for teachers in KPK?
There will be total 200 marks for calculating merit at initial stage of the recruitment. These marks are broadly distributed into two equal shares as:
- Test marks 100
- Academic qualifications 100
How academic qualification marks are divided while calculating merit for teachers?
The educational qualification is calculated based on the formula given in the following table. These marks will be added and the total marks for calculation will be 100. Nobody can be awarded 100 obtained marks out of total 100 marks. The table is shared below:
What is quota of disabled and minority persons in recruitment of teachers?
There will be a 2% quota for people with disabilities and 5% for the minority out of the total seats.
What is the marks distribution for the direct recruitment of District Teaching Posts?
There are different posts on the District Teaching Cadre. These posts include Primary School Teachers (PST), Qari/Qaria, Physical Education Teachers (PET), DM, AT, CT, CT-IT, TT.
How the marks for BS degree programs will be calculated?
Those students who have studied a four-year BS degree program can calculate 35 marks out of the total 100 for calculation of merit for recruitment of teachers. These 35 marks are equal to 20 marks of the B.A/B.Sc. program and 15 marks for the M.A/ M.Sc. Degree programs.
What will be the equivalence for M.A Education degree and B.Sc. Education degree programs?
B.Sc. Education degree programs will be awarded a total of 20 marks. While two years B.Ed. will be given 15 marks out of 20 and M.Ed. will be awarded 5 marks out of the total 20 marks from the educational qualification.
What are the minimum marks to pass the test for teachers in KPK?
The minimum marks that make a candidate eligible for the recruitment process is 50. In case, if the general merit is quite low, the passing criteria can be lowered to 30 marks.
How CGPA will be converted into marks?
Only the conversion allowed by the controller of examination of the concerned university for conversion of CGPA into marks will be accepted.
How documents will be verified while appointment of teachers in KPK?
The concerned appointing authority while recruiting the teachers will verify the original documents of all those candidates whose name is in the list of provisionally selected candidates shortlisted by the ETEA.
What is the number of days to appeal against the tentative merit list?
A total of 10 days will be given to appeal against the provisional merit list.
When final merit list for teachers will be issued?
The hiring authority will first dispose off all the appeals made against the tentative list. After this process, the final merit list will be displayed within maximum fifteen days.
Who will pay the verification fee the degrees and certificates in KPK?
The candidate whose hiring is under process will bear the cost of the verification fee. Matric and Intermediate certificates are verified from the concerned boards and degrees from the Public Sector Universities are verified from the concerned University. The degrees of Private sector Universities will be verified from the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. This all-verification process should conclude during the probation period of the employee.
What if the documents of the candidate are found bogus/fake?
You will be declared disqualified for the said post and a criminal case will be registered against you, if the submitted documents are found bogus/fake during the scrutiny process.
What is the age relaxation policy for hiring of teachers?
The age will be calculated on the closing date of the advertisement. Candidates will be given age relaxation in the upper age limit as per the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Initial Appointment to Civil Posts Rule 2008.
