GCU VC Dr Khaleequr Rahman was the chief guest at the final round of the bilingual competition adjudicated by Barrister Omer Ahmad Khan, Hamad Saeed, Rana Hamza Ijaz, Moeed Ali Jaffari, Ali Javed, Uzair Mehmood, Zulqarnain Cheena and Owais Maqbool Bari. As many as 40 teams participated in one of the biggest national parliamentary style debates. The LSE was declared the Best Urdu Team, while Dr Khalid Aftab Trophy for the Best English Team was lifted by LGS. However, GCU as host did not contest for coveted team trophies and individuals Osama Talib from King Edward Medical University was declared the Best Urdu Speaker, while Syed Muhammad Ali Abbass Shield for the Best English Speaker went Hafiz Usman from Lahore University of Management Sciences.
Addressing the prize distribution ceremony, GCU VC said that debates played vital role in character and intellectual grooming of students and all students should participate in such healthy activities. He expressed pleasure that all kinds of educational, socio-economic and environmental issues faced by central Asia and particularly Pakistan were discussed at the platform of GCU Parliamentary Style Debates.
