National Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (NACTE) Pakistan issues a Parents and Students alerts and asks students to confirm the accreditation status of the teacher education program before seeking admission. Students who seek admission to unrecognized programs, their degree will not be recognized by the competent authority.
The National Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (NACTE) is a national organization authorized to accredit teacher education programs. Accreditation is mandatory under the HEC rules for teacher education programs offered by the public and private sector educational institutions in the country. All the public and private education institutions offering teacher education programs are required to seek accreditation of their programs.
In case of non-accreditation of programs, it may cause refusal to acceptance of their degree by HEC. This not only causes embarrassment for the institutions concerned but it may further hamper the future of the students. It has also been noticed that the teacher education programs in some universities and colleges are being initiated offered without accreditation by the NACTE. In the larger interest of the public and the institutions, it is necessary that commencement of any new or existing teacher education program must be made after full compliance with the NACTE prerequisites for accreditation. Parents, particularly the students seeking admission in any teacher education program are advised to confirm the accreditation status of the program prior to their admission. The list of accredited and under process teacher education programs is available at the NACTE website.
