The National Computing Education Accreditation Council (NCEAC) was notified on February 16, 2005, by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan as a body for nationwide accreditation of computing degree programs. Currently, NCEAC accredits BS degree programs in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Bioinformatics, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Cyber Security, Multimedia & Gaming, and Computer Engineering. As per the bylaws of NCEAC issued by the HEC, "Accreditation shall be a mandatory process for all relevant academic programs offered by public and private sector institutions." The Council has accredited a total of 484 computing programs at almost all well-known and well-reputed Higher Education Institutions (HEIs)/Degree Awarding Institutions (DAIs) in all four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu & Kashmir through 1291 accreditation visits. Several of these programs have been accredited multiple times. 237 of these programs are at Public institutions and 247 at Private institutions.
The NCEAC-accredited and not accredited computing degree programs and their accreditation category can be found on the NCEAC website https://nceac.org.pk/Accreditation/RegionWiseInstitutionsAccreditation . This list includes all such institutions that applied for the accreditation of their computing programs, which were either accredited or not accredited.
The HEIs/DAIs, their sub-campuses, and/or their affiliated colleges that do not appear in this list offer non-accredited computing programs Avoid admission into such computing programs because the NCEAC shall not accredit their admitted batches.
Non-Accredited Programs and Universities
The list of institutions that violated the NCEAC decisions is also available at https://nceac.org.pk/Accreditation/AccreditationSuspendedInstitutions. The new batches admitted by these institutions shall not be accredited unless they get approval from the NCEAC following the due process as intimated to them in writing. All HEIs/DAIs, their sub-campuses, and/or their affiliated colleges/institutions offering 4-year computing degree programs are strongly advised to get their programs accredited with the NCEAC by August 31, 2024. Moreover, the NCEAC does not permit weekend classes for undergraduate computing degree programs.
All stakeholders are strongly advised to check the NCEAC website prior to getting admission in any computing degree program in the country. Parents are strongly advised to not admit their children to programs that are not NCEAC-accredited or are in violation of the NCEAC decisions.
