The government of Punjab has decided to start Postgraduate Medical diploma programs in all medical institutions of the province. The decision is taken to overcome the shortage of specialized doctors in Tehsil and District Headquarters Hospitals in Punjab. A meeting was held in the Department of Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education chaired by the Caretaker Provincial Health Minister Dr. Javed Akram.
Dr. Javed Akram reviewed the measures regarding Post Graduate Medical Diploma Program. He said that the post-graduate medical diploma program will be started in all medical schools in Punjab. 100 seats will be reserved for MCPS and 100 seats for Post Graduate Medical Diploma. The initiative of the Post Graduate Medical Diploma Program in Punjab will help meet the shortage of doctors in DHQs and TEQs on a priority basis.
An integrated dashboard will be developed for Post Graduate Medical Diploma Program in Punjab. University of Health Sciences Punjab will conduct an entry test for admission to Post Graduate Medical Diploma Program.
For admission to the Post Graduate Medical Diploma program, doctors have to obtain NOC from the Department of Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education. The Academic Calendar of Post Graduate Medical Diploma Program will be released in the month of December every year.
