The Punjab School Education Department has introduced three new academic groups for matric students, expanding their subject choices beyond the traditional Science and Arts streams. Starting from the 2025-26 academic session, students can enroll in Health Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, and Fashion Designing as part of their matriculation studies.
The department has also released detailed subject lists for each category to facilitate the implementation of these new groups. These new groups aim to provide students with diverse career pathways and equip them with specialized knowledge in the healthcare, agriculture, and fashion industries.
Additionally, the department will commence printing textbooks for these newly introduced groups once it has collected sufficient data on student enrollment. Schools across Punjab are expected to begin preparing to accommodate these curriculum changes.
This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to broadening educational opportunities and aligning the school curriculum with modern industry trends.
