World Economic Forum started to include young scientists in their meetings since 2009. Young Scientists get the opportunity to share their ideas with each other and also brought into attention of world leaders about the recent advancements in their respective fields. In addition, they also share their scientific ideas during sessions of the forum.
Besides the participation in world economic forum meetings and discussions with various eminent leaders of the world, special arrangements were made for a single day visit of local industries, research centers and universities for Young Scientists also. Maximum 2 young scientists with excellent research background and leadership abilities can join from each country.
This year 36 young scientists from more than 20 countries of the world joined the World Economic Forum Annual meeting of the New Champions-2012 which was entitled as “Creating the future economy” while Aftab Ahmad was selected from Pakistan to join this meeting from 11-14th of September in Tianjin, China. There were around 2000 participants of the meetings from Government, businessmen community, industries, universities representatives, spiritual leaders, Global Young Leaders, Global Shapers, Young Scientists and many others from more than 90 countries of the world.
The meeting provides an opportunity to discuss and talk about the major global challenges, how to meet them in better way and also how to prepare ourselves to fight with them in future. The meeting was very successful and Aftab Ahmad actively participated in different sessions of meeting. He also had beneficial discussions with world leaders of different fields. Among the world leaders, Prime Minister of Pakistan and Finance Minister also participated in this meeting from Government sector.
Aftab Ahmad was honored as Smart Scientist by COMSTECH in 2006 and also awarded with “Best Young Investigator Award” in 2009 by Pakistan Cardiac Society. He has also published several research articles in national and international journals and also has written 3 books for public awareness.
Aftab Ahmad is serving as President of National Academy of Young Scientists (NAYS) Pakistan since 2009. NAYS Pakistan has more than 3000 young researchers as members from Pakistan and overseas Pakistani researchers also. Aftab Ahmed is Chief-Coordinator of Sciforum Pakistan and Member (group leader) of science for youth project of Global Young Academy (GYA). He is also in leader’s team of Islamic World Young Scientists Academy (IYSA). He also has represented Pakistan at several other international forums since 2008
