SOPs have been issued by the Health Department in Punjab for opening educational institutions. The health department has released a 7-page SOPs document. SOPs released are divided into two sections. In the first part, schools are required to ensure that staff and children wash their hands. If you want to wash your hands with soap, you have to use it for 40 seconds and if you have to use hand sanitizer, you have to use it for 20 seconds.
Students will be warned not to touch any furniture and other things without any reason and to follow the same rules in their home. Anyone with a respiratory problem at school should be isolated immediately, while ensuring that masks are worn at any gathering where the distance is less than 6 feet.
Schools have been barred from arranging the morning assembly. Institutions are advised to use multiple gates to ensure social distance on entrances and exits. Similarly, the number of students living in hostels will be reduced by 30%. No more than two students will be allowed to stay in any room. Similarly, teachers need to take an appropriate social distance while teaching.
In view of the social distance in the school, all kinds of competitions will be banned, however, for the purpose of training; it will not be restricted only to the players. Newspaper stands and TV rooms in the hostels of educational institutions will also remain closed. Play areas for Nursery and KG classes will be kept completely closed.
In this regard, it has been directed to spray disinfectant on all the buildings till three days before the opening of educational institutions. Similarly, it has been directed to disinfect the hostels in which the patients of Corona are kept in isolation.
The second section proposes three solutions to create health awareness in children. It covers topics related to overall health, mental health, and corona awareness. The administration has been directed to keep a complete health record of the students and teachers coming to the educational institutions, especially those who will be affected by the disease in one way or another.
The process of checking the temperature of every person, including students, in educational institutions will be ensured. Students and teachers will be encouraged to stay home with symptoms such as fever or shortness of breath. If more than 5 cases of corona are suspected from any educational institution, it will be reported to the health department immediately.
