The auditorium named after the deceased would spread over an area of 7,700 square feet and would be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs16 million in twelve months. Senator Haji Adeel would contribute Rs10 million from his own fund, according to a press release issued by the University of Peshawar.
The senator burst into tears while laying the foundation stone and a one minute silence was observed by a gathering which was followed by Fateha for the departed soul.
Haji Adeel also inaugurated the recently completed youth hostel on the premises of Hakim Abdul Jalil Naqvi Sports Complex. The hostel has been completed at a cost of Rs9.2 million in which Senator Adeel has contributed a sum of Rs7 million.
Addressing the gathering Mr Adeel said health and education were the two sectors with least allocation of budget. The total amount spent on both the sectors was around four per cent of the GDP which were very pathetic. Both the sectors should have four per cent each, he added.
About the prevailing situation in the country, he said some fundamentalist elements wanted to impose their will on the people which was causing unrest and fear among the masses. He said it was annoying, but vowed not to let these elements ruin what had been achieved.
Vice-Chancellor, University of Peshawar, Prof Dr Azmat Hayat Khan commended the contributions of Haji Adeel towards facilitating students and visiting teams by providing them best sporting venues.
He said University of Peshawar was committed to ensure conducive environment for students.
