University of Health Sciences UHS Lahore has issued a public notice regarding the affiliation of medical and allied health sciences institutions in the province. According to the notice, all medical colleges and institutions offering medical e.g. MBBS, BDS, and allied health sciences degrees are required to be affiliated with UHS. No institution in the province can grant degrees in the mentioned field except UHS.
The degrees of the institutions affiliated with any other university will not be recognized. Hence, parents and students are informed to seek admission to the affiliated institutions of the University of Health Sciences only. The list of affiliated institutions of UHS is available at UHS's official website. The public notice reads as follows:
For the awareness of the general public, aspirants, and medical professionals, it is hereby announced that the University of Health Sciences (UHS) Lahore is the only authority under Section 37 of its Ordinance 2002 according to which Affiliation is mandatory for every medical college or Medical Institution which is providing medical education or teaching in the fields of health sciences within the regional limits of Punjab. In light of the recent decision of the Lahore High Court (29214/2011.W.P. No, dated 10 February 2023), compliance with this condition is in accordance with the spirit of the Eighteenth Amendment of the Constitution and the law framed by the Honorable Supreme Court of Pakistan and its Along with the mandatory statutory requirement prescribed in Section 37 of the University of Health Sciences Ordinance 2002, affiliation is mandatory for every medical institution in Punjab before starting the teaching and training process.
It is therefore reiterated that any degree in Medicine or Health Sciences obtained by any Medical College / Institution in Punjab which is not affiliated with the University of Health Sciences (UHS) Lahore is illegal and invalid and the university will not be responsible for any loss caused to the students in this regard.
