One of the first and most important steps every student should take before seeking admission in a college or university is to verify whether or not the university is recognized by an accrediting authority. Accreditation/recognition ensures a basic level of quality in the education you receive from an institution.

There are two levels of accreditation:

Institution Accreditation

HEC recognizes a University or institute of Higher Learning in Pakistan. HEC recognition means that the institute or university is fulfilling the basic criteria set by HEC.

Program Accreditation:

Professional programs like MBBS, BDS, Pharmacy, Engineering, Business, and Architecture etc… are accredited by professional accreditation councils. There are 9 independent professional councils while five councils have been established under HEC.
