IST doesn’t conduct its own entry test. The results of following tests are accepted to apply for admission in undergraduate programs offered for Fall-2021 semester:
- NAT which is conducted by NTS in every month
- HAT which is conducted by ETC-HEC
- SAT-II which is conducted by College Board, USA
- NET which is conducted by NUST Islamabad
- ECAT which is conducted by UET Lahore
- Entry Test for Engineering Programs conducted by NED Karachi
Applicants have an option to apply for admission in IST either on the basis of NAT/ HAT/ SAT II/ NET/ ECAT/ NED. Applicants can appear in any one of the above-mentioned tests and can use the higher score to apply for admission in IST i.e. if an applicant has obtained a higher score/ marks in NAT then he/ she should apply on the basis of NAT. Likewise, if an applicant has a higher score/ marks in HAT or SAT II or NET or ECAT or NED entry test, then he/she should apply on the basis of HAT or SAT II or NET or ECAT or NED entry test score/ marks.

- NAT Acceptable Test Dates
The test is conducted by NTS in all major cities of Pakistan in every month. Interested students are required to visit NTS website i.e. https://www.nts.org.pk/new/NAT.php#cddv or contact NTS to get desired information related to the registration procedure, test dates and centers etc.
Acceptable Dates:
The results of the NAT conducted by NTS from July 01, 2020 to July 31, 2021 are acceptable to apply for admission in programs offered for Fall-2021 semester
Acceptable Categories:
- NAT-1E is acceptable to apply for admission in all Undergraduate Engineering & Science Programs
- NAT-1CS is acceptable to apply for admission in BS Avionics Engineering & All Science Programs
- HAT Acceptable Test Dates
HEC has established Education Testing Commission (ETC) to hold Higher Education Aptitude Test (HAT) for UG admissions.
Acceptable Dates:
The results of the HAT-UG tests announced/ available from July 01, 2020 to July 31, 2021 are acceptable to apply for admission in programs offered for Fall-2021 semester.
Acceptable Categories:- HAT–UG–E is acceptable to apply for admission in all Undergraduate Engineering & Science Programs
- HAT–UG–CS is acceptable to apply for admission in BS Avionics Engineering & All Science Programs
- SAT II Acceptable Test Dates
The result of SAT II (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics level–II) test announced/ available from July 01, 2020 to July 31, 2021 are acceptable to apply for admission in programs offered for Fall-2021 semester- The IST institutional code to receive SAT scores is 7966
- The last date for SAT II scores to reach IST is same as mentioned in admission advertisements/ website. Scores received after the deadline will not be entertained
- Candidates applying on SAT II basis have to enter their SAT II Subject Test scores in their online application form otherwise their application will not be processed
- NET Acceptable Test Dates
The result of NUST Entry Test (NET) announced/ available from January 01, 2021 to July 31, 2021 are acceptable to apply for admission in programs offered for Fall-2021 semester
Acceptable Categories:- NET (Engineering Category) is acceptable to apply for admission in all Undergraduate Engineering & Science Programs
- NET (Computer Science) is acceptable to apply for admission in BS Avionics Engineering & All Science Programs
- NET (Physics) is acceptable to apply for admission in BS Physics
- NET (Mathematics) is acceptable to apply for admission in BS Mathematics
- ECAT Acceptable Test Dates
The result of ECAT conducted by UET Lahore for Fall 2021 intake in Engineering Programs announced/ available before last date of admissions announced by IST will be acceptable to apply for admission in all Undergraduate Engineering & Science Programs
- NED UET Acceptable Test Dates
The result of Entry Test conducted by NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi for Fall 2021 intake in Engineering Programs announced/ available before last date of admissions announced by IST will be acceptable to apply for admission in all Undergraduate Engineering & Science Programs

IST Eligibility Criteria
A candidate seeking admission to a baccalaureate degree program at IST must meet the following criteria:
Candidates must fulfill the following conditions:
- SSC/ O-Level/ Equivalent certificate (Science) with 60% marks
- FSc Pre-Engineering with minimum 60% overall marks (Part-1 and Part-2 combined); however, a student must also have 60% marks in each Physics, Mathematics & Chemistry for admission.
- A-Level / Cambridge students should have IBCC certificate equivalent to FSc Pre-Engineering with overall 60% marks and must have at least C Grade in each Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry for admission.
- 50% marks in NAT-IE.
- Age Limit: 22 Years
For Space Science Program:
- SSC/ O-Level/ Equivalent certificate (Science) with 60% marks
- FSc Pre-Engineering/ Computer Science/ ICS students can apply for Space Science Program.
- FSc Pre-Engineering/ ICS with minimum 60% overall marks (Part-1 and Part-2 combined); however, a student must also have 60% marks in each Physics, Mathematics & Chemistry/ Computer for admission.
- A-Level / Cambridge students should have IBCC certificate equivalent to FSc Pre-Engineering with overall 60% marks and must have at least C Grade in each Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry/ Computer for admission.
- 50% marks in NAT-IE/ NAT-ICS.

Pre-medical Students:
Pre-medical students with additional math are eligible to apply for undergraduate programs at IST.
