IBCC Equivalence Certificate 2024

Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) is the main authority to determine the equivalent qualification (up to 12th grade) of the students who have studied from any system other than that of Pakistan. The student may have completed his/her education from within Pakistan or abroad. IBCC not only determines the level of the studies of the students but also calculates the equivalent marks of the students according to the Pakistani system.

IBCC equivalence certificate is required for admission to any higher educational institution for an undergraduate degree program. All international students, overseas Pakistanis, and local students, who have completed their education from any system other than that of Pakistan, are required to obtain the equivalence certificate from IBCC.

As there are many educational systems in the world, hence IBCC has formulated different formulae and rules for different education systems of the world. The equivalence of the students who have studied in the GCE O’Level/A’Level system is totally different from the equivalence of the students who have studied in the USA or Canadian system. However, there are some general rules which are applicable to all the students.

The main purpose of equivalence of qualification is to identify the relevant stage in the Pakistani System by considering the number of schooling years and subjects of a foreign system if the system does not match with the Pakistani model.

Here are a few general guidelines for International Students and Overseas Pakistanis who intend to study undergraduate degree programs in Pakistan.

Equivalence requirements for Admission to Medical:

International Students and overseas Pakistanis, who intend to seek admission to the MBBS degree program in Pakistan, must fulfill the following requirements for the Pre-Medical Equivalence certificate:

• 12 years of education
• Education from an accredited/recognized institution (especially for the USA and Canadian systems)
• Students must have studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Computer, Mathematics and English in 9th and 10th grade especially and
• Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in 11th and 12th grade (with a slight variation for different systems especially the USA and Canada)

Equivalence requirements for Admission to Engineering in Pakistan:

International Students and overseas Pakistanis, who intend to seek admission to an engineering degree program in Pakistan, must fulfill the following requirements for the Pre-Engineering Equivalence certificate:

• 12 years of education
• Education from an accredited/recognized institution (especially for the USA and Canadian systems)
• Students must have studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Computer, Mathematics, and English in 9th and 10th grade especially and
• Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in 11th and 12th grade (with a slight variation for different systems especially the USA and Canada)

Equivalence requirements for Admission to Computer Science program in Pakistan:

International Students and overseas Pakistanis, who intend to seek admission to Computer Science related programs i.e. Information Technology, Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence, etc… degree programs in Pakistan, must fulfill the following requirements for ICS/Pre-Engineering/Pre-Medical Equivalence certificate:

• 12 years of education
• Education from an accredited/recognized institution (especially for the USA and Canadian systems)
• Students must have studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Computer, Mathematics, and English in 9th and 10th grade especially and
• Must have studied Mathematics/Biology in 11th and 12th grade (with a slight variation for different systems especially the USA and Canada)

Equivalence requirements for Admission to BBA and Social Sciences:

International Students and overseas Pakistanis, who intend to seek admission to Management Sciences, Law, Finance and Accounting, and other Social Sciences degree programs in Pakistan, must fulfill the following requirements for the Equivalence certificate:

• 12 years of education
• Education from an accredited/recognized institution (especially for USA and Canadian systems)
