Inorganic Chemistry
This is the branch of chemistry that deals with all elements and compounds except for the hydrocarbons and their derivatives. As such this "specialty" is almost as broad as the science of chemistry itself. Inorganic chemistry includes the study of ceramics; metals; extreme temperatures and pressures; geochemistry; and the transuranium elements. This study overlaps many other scientific fields, including metallurgy, mineralogy, solid-state physics, and synthetic chemistry.
