Chemistry Organic
The study of hydrocarbon compounds, composed of carbon, hydrogen, and possibly other elements. The Organic Chemist is an expert on the structure, nomenclature, reactions, and synthesis of organic compounds. He is also highly knowledgeable about the properties of the main functional groups of organic compounds, including alcohols, aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids, carbohydrates, lipids, and proteins. He is familiar with the chemistry of bioorganic molecules, including nucleic acids, enzymes, and so forth.
