Study options for higher education for Overseas Pakistanis residing in Dubai UAE

Most of the students coming from UAE wish to apply for engineering program, and some of them are interested to study Medical Education in Pakistan. Here are few general guidelines for Pakistanis residing in UAE.

Equivalence Certificate

All those students who have studied from systems other than Pakistani system, are required to obtain equivalence certificate from Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC), Islamabad. Details of equivalence certificate and equivalence formula may be found here.

Best Options students coming from UAE may explore in Pakistan

As UAE does not offer nationality, so Pakistani students have two options for admission in Medical Colleges and Engineering Universities, they may apply on Local seats, and on Overseas Reserved seats and they may also apply in some universities on both categories.

Overseas Seats are available in following universities and Medical Colleges.

• All Punjab Government Medical and Dental Colleges (admission application through UHS)
• All Pakistan Private Medical College (Foreign/ Overseas Seats)
• NUST (overseas students may apply on foreign Seats)
• UET Lahore and UET Taxila and their subcampuses
• NED UET Karachi
• Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology (GIKI)

Suitable Engineering programs and Universities for students coming from UAE

Best Universities for engineering programs for overseas students especially from UAE are as follows:

• NUST Islamabad is the most suitable option for engineering for students coming from Saudi Arabia. Fee structure of overseas seat is also nominal US $ 4000 per year. Student shall be required to appear in SAT-II
• UET Lahore and Taxila are 2nd best options as the merit of overseas seats is very low, and hence seeking admission to these top ranked universities is very easy for students coming from UAE. UET Lahore Entry test is required for applying on overseas seat as well. Details of UET Lahore Entry test may be found here.
• NED UET is the best option for overseas students belonging to Sindh Province.
• PIEAS is number one ranked engineering university. But its merit is very high; hence chances for overseas students are comparatively low. But you must apply to avail opportunity.
• Other good options worth exploring also include COMSATS, Bahria University, FAST, GIKI, IBA Karachi, Mehran UET, IIUI. 

Suitable medical Colleges for Overseas Students

• Army Medical College Rawalpindi is the best option for overseas students for Medical Education in Pakistan. Also its fee structure is comparatively low i.e. US $ 10,000 per annum for overseas/foreign seats. The college is run by Pakistan Army. SAT-II is required for admission in MBBS and BDS on foreign seat.
• CMH Medical College Lahore is also run by army.
• Government Medical colleges of Punjab like King Edward Medical College, Allama Iqbal Medical College Lahore, and all other Public Sect medical Colleges of Punjab are amongst the best options to apply for overseas seats, especially for students coming from UAE, and Middle East. Good news is that the fee structure of overseas seat is same as Local seat, only few thousand Pak Rupees per year. Hence it becomes the best and most targeted option for Overseas Students who have Punjab domicile. Bad news is that merit of overseas seats is almost same as local seats, more than 84% for MBBS. Students may apply on UHS test basis or on SAT-II basis.
• Public Sector Medical colleges of Khyber Pukhtonkhwa (for students having KP Domicile)
• Private medical Colleges with better facilities and ranking are Islamic International Medical College Rawalpindi, Shifa College of Medicine Islamabad, University of Lahore Medical and Dental College, Aga Khan Medical College (Fee structure is very high).

• Attested Copies of 9th grade to 12th grade transcripts (Matric, FSc, O-Level, A-Level)
• Hope certificate in case of result awaiting
• Equivalence Certificate if applicable
• Photographs
• Domicile certificate
• Copies of CNIC of student and parents
• Copies of Passport of Student and Parents attested by Pakistan Embassy
• Copies of Parent's Iqamah Attested by Pakistan Embassy
• Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) membership card
• Medical Fitness certificate by a PMDC registered doctor
• UHS or UET Overseas forms attested by Pakistan Embassy
